Location background

In the heart of Birmingham’s city centre, 21 Bennetts Hill is located within a vibrant and thriving part of the city connecting Birmingham New Street Station to the main commercial office sector.

This contemporary office accommodation, set behind an elegant period façade, has been designed to incorporate the benefits of mindfulness and complement the increasingly popular hybrid working model.

Phi’s solution

Phi Lighting worked with Halligan Consulting Engineers to develop a lighting scheme to meet the exacting client and interior designers’ requirements.

A traditional 600×600 ceiling needed to be avoided and the use of a 300×1200 planked ceiling was the preferred solution. The interior designers also required the planks to be rotated throughout the office and interspersed with 600×1200 tiles.

Phi proposed its recessed, modular Quadrant luminaire – a direct LED light source which provides market-leading performance with a clean, crisp light. The luminaire is also characterised by excellent glare control (ensuring compliance with BSEN 12464) while offering a uniformly illuminated surface.

Manufactured from sheet steel, the fitting is configurable to allow installation within multiple different ceiling systems (SAS, Armstrong, Burgess) and, for ease of electrical installation, a fast-fit connector comes as standard.

After providing working samples for review by the client team, we completed the lighting designs to suit the interior designers’ ceiling layout.

“All through the process, the support and solutions provided by Len at Phi Lighting was excellent.” Andy Clarke, Halligan Consulting Engineers
