Jaguar Building Coventry University

LOCATION BACKGROUND

Coventry university is an evolving and innovative institution with a growing reputation for excellence. to support its vision of continuous improvement, the university is investing heavily in developing its city campus. this on-going work has included refurbishment of its Jaguar Building which provides a learning centre for graduates.

In summer 2012, Phi lighting supported building services consultants, Jonathan Richard Associates (JRA Ltd), on a project that saw it transforming a section of

The Jaguar Building previously used for technology and teaching into light, energy-efficient meeting/seminar rooms and a large open-plan office/study area.

Commenting on Phi’s contribution to this successful project, director of JRA Ltd, Jonathan Richards, said:

“We’ve worked with Phi on many occasions and we know we can always rely on them to deliver.

Working to budget, once again they came up with a great overall solution with a range of high-quality products that have enabled us to create the working environment the university was looking for.

Throughout the nine-week period Phi were always on hand to ensure everything went smoothly. We couldn’t have asked for anything more.”

CLIENT BRIEF

The aim of the project was to create a modern, welcoming and effective working environment. timing was critical, with a tight nine-week turnaround required to coincide with the academic break. Phi was therefore required to work closely with Jra ltd to ensure fittings were delivered at exactly the right time.

THE SOLUTION BY PHI

Phi’s lighting plan featured a range of stylish energy-efficient recessed fittings and downlighters.

For the office spaces, Phi recommended its echoic recessed modular fitting. these unobtrusive, fluorescent lamps provide a high-level light output and are particularly well-suited to larger, communal areas.

For the smaller board rooms and meeting rooms, Phi chose a combination of Iris Eco fluorescent and Vida led downlighters. the striking Luna ceiling fitting was then used to provide a more ambient effect in the reception areas.

For maximum efficiency and to ensure optimum light levels at all times, all spaces were fitted with fully automatic daylight and presence controls.
