The Sipping News – Phi lights new offices for royal wine merchants

Phi’s lighting will help put the finishing touches to a demanding project to redevelop premises in central London for wine merchants Berry Bros & Rudd.

Located at 62-63 Pall Mall within the St James’s Conservation Area, below ground the scheme will provide new and refurbished basements to house BB&R’s hospitality and wine school facilities.

Above ground, where the building is surrounded by Grade II* listed buildings, the development will provide around 9,000 sq ft of lettable office floorspace.

More than 500 of Phi’s fittings will be installed, including 250 VIDA LED downlights, more than 100 recessed ECHOIC luminaires and 45 LUCID safety lights.

Extending to nine storeys, the building has been designed by MJP and Short & Associates and the contractor is Galliford Try.

In addition to the excavation of a sub-basement the complicated project has involved completely demolishing BB&R’s previous buildings at 62 and 63 Pall Mall while retaining the façade of number 62. The new development also provides access to BB&R’s Grade I listed building at the rear.
