Focusing on best practice with the British Council for Offices

As part of our work to provide lighting solutions for the commercial office market, Phi Lighting has become a member of the British Council for Offices (BCO), the leading organisation representing the office market.

The BCO meets to research, develop and communicate best practice in all aspects of the office sector.  It delivers this by providing a forum for the discussion and debate of relevant issues.

As new members, we were delighted to attend the annual BCO conference, held this year at the ICC in Birmingham City Centre. This successful event afforded us many networking opportunities and the chance to catch up with old friends.

The conference opened in style with a drinks reception and Phi’s evening continued with a memorable curry night and after party, both sponsored by Overbury.

On the following morning, we got down to business with a brilliant panel providing an economic overview and advice to the delegation.

We then broke into various selected seminars, tours and plenary sessions where we listened to advisers on subjects such as ‘putting the occupiers centre stage’, moving the property industry into a more client-focused market perhaps?

Delegates learned about the evolving office and how working patterns are changing, future cities, what the city of the future might be like, and the current state of the regional office market.

The tours were extremely enjoyable, particularly Brindley Place – the weather certainly helped, but we were impressed to see how this area has been regenerated to provide a true cafe society, buzzing with people enjoying a meal and the warm sunshine.

We look forward to working with some of those whom we met and raising awareness of how our lighting products can provide better working environments for all those in the office market.
